Meet Our Management Team

Alex Gellatly is the president of Gellatly & Criscione Services. He has family roots in the marine transportation industry, and has been an owner/operator for over 30 years. His expertise is broad, both on the water and in the office. He has first-hand experience being a captain, managing the human resource needs and equipment requirements, along with the financials for his business. He currently specializes in Gellatly & Criscione Services' financing and equipment.

Mario Criscione is currently the vice president of Gellatly & Criscione Services. Mario is a Ft.Schuyler alumni who gained valuable barging and small tanker experience after his graduation. He worked as a dispatcher, and then sales manger, after his move into the office in 1981. He has been in the marine transportation industry since 1971. Mario takes care of Gellatly & Criscione’s operations and sales.

Gary Shiflett is Gellatly & Criscione Services' Port Engineer.  He graduated from New York Maritime College (Ft. Schuyler). He has worked in the marine transportation field for the past 30 years at companies such as Sunoco, Red Start Spentonbush, and Eklof Marine Corporation. Gary holds a Third Mate Oceans Unlimited, Master of Freight and Towing Coastal Waters, Designated Duty Engineer Unlimited, and Tankbarge/PIC licenses and documents. Additionally, Gary has the following certificates: Public Information Officer, Shipyard Competent Person, Company Security Officer, and Alcohol Test Administrator. He is also a continuing education instructor for the US Merchant Marine Academy. Gary has been with Gellatly & Criscione Services since 1999, beginning as a Tankerman and Engineer, then moving into the office as Port Engineer in 2003. 

Joe Ferrell is Gellatly & Criscione's Safety and Compliance Officer. He also graduated from New York Maritime College (Ft. Schuyler) with Mario and Gary. He also has an M.S. in Education from Southampton College. Joe has 15 years of deep sea tanker experience with Sunoco, working all deck positions from O.S. to Chief Mate. He has 10 years of inland experience, working as a tankerman, deckhand, small tanker A.B., mate, and a tug mate. Additionally, Joe had 6 years of experience as an elementary school teacher before coming to Gellatly & Criscione Services. Joe holds the following licenses: Chief Mate Oceans, unlimited, Master Oceans, 1600 tons with Towing Endorsement, A.B. unlimited, Tank Ship P.I.C., and STCW endorsement (2003). 

Tara Gellatly handles the Operations Systems for Gellatly & Criscione Services. She manages the AWO and ISM programs. She came from the Hotel and Conference Center Industry where she started in 1985. She was a Director of Sales and Marketing with several hotels and conference centers such as Choice Hotel International, Aramark, and Dolce International. Tara began working for Gellatly & Criscione Services in 2004 as a dispatcher. In 2007 began working with Safety & Operations. She is currently responsible for all company manuals and yearly renewals of our programs.

Jessica Sarnak is the Finance and Benefits Manager with Gellatly & Criscione Services. She graduated from New York University's Stern School of Business in 2003 with a double major in Finance and Accounting. She worked as a financial analyst for the New Jersey Hospital Association until 2004, when she was hired by Gellatly & Criscione.
